TapLoop Arcade uses two kinds of browser storage. The first is first-party storage that saves your game progress on your own device. The second is third-party cookies set by our advertising partner on pages where ads are shown. This page explains what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to turn it off.

What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends the file back on later visits, so the website can remember something about you: a login session, a preference, a shopping cart, or in our case your best score in Sort Dock. Cookies are scoped to a single site, which means taploopgames.com cannot read the cookies set by any other site. The same browser can hold many cookies at once, and you can see, manage, and delete them from your browser's privacy settings.
First-party storage (the games)
The TapLoop games use first-party storage to remember your progress between visits. The keys we set include your current level, your best score, your preferred difficulty, and your audio mute state. The values stay on your device. We do not transmit them to a server, and we do not read them from any other domain. If you clear site data in your browser, all of this is wiped and the next game session starts from level 1.

Third-party cookies (advertising)
On pages where we show advertising, Google AdSense sets cookies and uses localStorage to keep the ads working. The most common AdSense cookies are IDE and NID. They are used for ad personalisation (so you do not see the same ad twice in a row and the ads are roughly relevant to the page), frequency capping (so a single ad does not appear too many times in a single session), and aggregate reporting. AdSense does not see or set anything in the games themselves, and no AdSense cookies are set when you are playing a game with the ad slot hidden.
How to opt out of personalised ads
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google's Ads Settings page. The opt-out is stored in a Google cookie on your browser, so you will need to repeat it on each device you use. You can also block third-party cookies entirely from your browser's privacy settings, which will switch every ad you see to a non-personalised, contextual ad. The games themselves keep working either way.

Are cookies required to play?
First-party storage is required for the games to remember your progress, but it is a soft requirement. If you block first-party storage, the games still run; they just start from level 1 every visit.
Are third-party cookies required to play?
No. The games never set or read third-party cookies. AdSense only runs on a small number of content pages, and blocking third-party cookies does not change gameplay.
How long do AdSense cookies last?
Most AdSense cookies expire between 24 hours and 13 months after they are set. The exact lifetime is controlled by Google, not by TapLoop Arcade. You can see the current list at Google's Ads Settings page.
Can I see exactly which cookies you set?
Yes. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Application or Storage tab, expand the Cookies section, and pick taploopgames.com. You will see every key, value, expiry, and scope.
